Work work work. Busy busy busy.
Enceladus had more or less ‘hired him on’ once the facility had begun to be renovated. Considering that it had been functioning for very little time once they got access to it, much of the installed tech was intact. Fantastic for him! As it allowed him to investigate the Martian designs in more detail.
...if he actually had time.
It seemed that although he was welcomed with open arms by the ESU, they more or less had him working for them the moment he was granted safety. Which meant being on the Menaulion’s engineering board and mechanics team. Which meant looking over their AAs… Ugh, what a drag! He wanted to make things, not revamp them, plus-
“Oh Cinco, could you give us an overview of the Red Sun’s new gyros? We got them installed last night but…”
“Yeah yeah leave it to me, just uh, can you get me some coffee or somethin’?”
…
…
....There was a very, very slight exception.
The only team he didn’t have to overlook was the one being led by one of the pilots themselves- the Qureshi team. Though they were essentially on ‘loan’ to the pilot, they were composed of particular firebrands who wanted to do more than put a couple of AAs together, they were the ones that wanted to tinker. God, if he was five years younger…
“Oh my, if it isn’t Miss Qureshi herself, overlooking her machine all dramatic-like..”
“Cinco!”, she greeted warmly.
The ‘researcher’ and ‘engineer’ swung around her, tapping those strong shoulders of her with his hands before standing next to her. He had his hair up in a makeshift, messy ponytail to the side- the bright blue dye fading away to a more modest black.
“So how’s it coming along?”
“Well enough, I'd say, but we're trying to figure out some kinks…”
“Oooh, kinks! Do tell.”
She pointed at the Neu Alma; the machine stood tall besides them, most of its frame bare. The armour was stored on several racks aligned around it, and a few more could be seen behind. She pulled out a tablet that showed a wireframe view of the machine and pointed more specifically at the legs.
“With all the equipment stored on the Neu Alma, it makes it a very versatile machine, which is great, I love it- and we've even managed to make it so that it doesn't get in the way of movement. The thing is, it also makes it a bit top-heavy, so last time, we beefed up the legs, right. And it did help- really felt it in that last sortie, but I must admit, I was expecting a tad more maneuverability, so we…”
“Mhmhmmmmm?”
She paused to catch her breath.
“So we're trying to figure out what we can do about this.”
“Ever consider making it… even more top-heavy?”
